Going to try TOR.

Ok, so I convinced my wife to let me buy a new computer, considering mine is 4 years old it was about time. So, I'm itching to try TOR now that I can.

I'm assuming that there is a lot more action on the Vengeance side than Valor? I'd prefer to start what will be my main on the side with more guild participation. Also, any quick tidbits of info that you guys that are already playing wish you had known when you started? Like does it matter which race you pick? Can you reset your talent tree or are you stuck with what you chose? Any needs already poping up (i.e. no helaers/tanks)?

Looking forward to seeing you all in game.

Congrats on the new computer!

I am guessing that the Vengeance side does indeed have more active players at the moment (i don't have a toon there yet so I can't say for sure).

What race you choose doesn't really matter (other than personal preference and class availability).

You cannot reset your advanced class (e.g. i am a sage now, i cannot change my mind and become a shadow tomorrow). I can however reset my talent points when I wish to.

anything else, its probably best to ask in game as you are going to get a feel for things.

Have fun.

Woot woot! What kind of computer did you get?

There are more people on the Empire side than Republic, but feel free to make one on each side. I have really enjoyed the storyline on both sides so far. On wow, I was pretty much a "level as fast as possible because it's boring" type of person, but I'm really enjoying leveling in this game.

Someone else can give you the tidbits though, I've been out of town for a while, so I haven't been able to log in lately.

I got a Mac Book Pro 15' and I'm going to dual boot it with windows 7. The Radion 6770 1gb video card is a huge upgrade compared to my old cpu (the graphics were the issue with running newer games).

I will be starting a character on both sides (each will be a tank, but I'm undecided which one, maybe I'll start 4 and try each of the tanking classes.

A question for those who have played. Are the companions a big help when playing solo, or are they just kind of a fun piece of the game that doesn't actually make a difference in the combat portion?

Ati when do you get back from HI?

I got back yesterday afternoon.

Companions are really helpful. I have a dps character that has a tank companion, and it's just awesome. Also (I haven't done any tradeskilling) but I've heard that you can send the companions out to do things for you so tradeskilling is less of a grind.

I got it running on my wife's laptop that doesn't quite meet the required specs. So I'm playing with the graphics turned all the way down. I'm enjoying it so far.

Inziladun on Vengeance and Inz on valor if I can get a guild invite at some point.

Are you on right now? Slader is on Valor side, I'll be back online again tonight. My toon is Cygun on Valor, he can get you an invite.

Thanks Azrim. I caught Ky when he was on last night.

Has anyone messed with much of the crafting system yet? From what I've read it sounds like it might help to level multiple alts together so that you can level their crafting skills. Doesn't sound like I'll be able to grind crafting skills over a long weekend like I have done with my wow alts.

Actually, since each crafting skill primarily uses one gathering and one mission skill, it's pretty easy to be self-sufficient. But even if you don't go with a matched set, it's no biggie. The gathering skills also have a mission component, which makes gathering MUCH easier--just send a companion off for the particular type of material you need. No more tromping around low level zones for iron! (The one downside is that mission gathering costs money, but again, wouldn't worry too much. Especially if you're an archeologist, as that seems to have the most bugged nodes right now.)
